My Steinway came yesterday. A proud day indeed.
It was my Aunt's piano that I learned to play on. It has sat rotting at my parent's house for the past 18 years. I convinced my wife that it was worth pulling $12K of equity out of the house to rebuild it. Still can't believe she agreed. (to see it in progress when it was being worked on, check out http://www.hancockrestorations.com/Mahogany1894%20Steinway%20upright%20piano.htm).
Yes, a very proud day… but not enough to make me a proud papa.
Until my 4 year old walked over and said “Daddy what key is this?” “Middle C” “Is this where I start Twinkle Twinkle Little Star?” “yes”
And my heart took flight at that moment. As she plucked away and figured out which keys to push.
Now I can say I'm a proud Papa.
